It's really weird thinking that my first year as a Quidditch player has already been over for almost a week already -- I still remember trying out only six months ago, and then my first match back in November where I sat on the bench the entire time, and a mere four months later, there goes my last match of the season, where I spent all those hours warming the benches with my bum again. Still had a grand time though, even if the Prides gave us a sounder thrashing than I'd have liked to end the season, and here's to hoping I'll be getting a chance to prove myself more as a reserve Seeker next year and it'll not be long before I get to be a starting one.

And I've got to say that even as a Seeker who loves my position, the whole Snitch thing is still odd coming from a Muggle sports background. I know it's a tradition, the races for the thing are exciting, and I probably wouldn't be playing at all if there weren't Seekers, but it's amazing how the work of one player -- sort of, I guess good Beaters could literally make or break a Seeker too -- can undo all the work done by the Chasers and Keeper in one swoop. I mean, the Snitch is worth 15 goals, and it's just a wee thing. But last Saturday, our Chasers had scored 10 goals while the Prides had only got one in on us, and bang! Their Seeker catches the Snitch, and it's 160 to 100 just like that. I know, I know, it's the number of points at the end of the season that matters and not if the team wins or loses a match, and if you do the maths, a side could still come out on top of the league without ever catching the Snitch if they can score and block the Quaffle like no one's business, but it's an awful lot of work.

So how many of you going on about how grand this Muggle-born bill because you care so much about our misfortunes are actually going to take in one of our kind to raise right?

[ WARDED TO PUBLICLY KNOWN MUGGLE-BORNS. ]
So, hey! Some of you know me and some of you don't, but this wasn't something I wanted to be bringing up with anyone who isn't Muggle-born. I don't fancy being told by anyone who doesn't know what it's like how to feel about something that's bothering me as a Muggle-born, no matter how well-meaning it is.

Is anyone else as bothered about people saying things like 'hating werewolves is like hating Muggle-borns'? I mean, I know it wasn't meant in a bad way, but it sounds exactly like something a purist would say. And they're not the same thing. Sure, I get there are some swell werewolves out there who never asked for this just like we never asked to have Muggle parents -- I still don't know how to feel about werewolves, actually, I always thought it was sort of grand they were real like in stories until I found out they like baby-napping as much as purists do, except they probably eat them too. But last I checked, MOST werewolves are the nasty sort, and they've got Greyback and a lot of them DO hurt people -- but there's no Greyback for Muggle-borns, and no Muggle-borns ever hurt or killed anyone because they're a Muggle-born. And I haven't tested this, but I reckon someone isn't going to turn Muggle-born if I bite them, and even if they did, it's not like Muggle-borns changed into monsters once a month. So I can understand why a lot of people of all backgrounds are scared of and hates werewolves even if there are a few decent ones when there's no good reason to do the same for Muggle-borns.

I guess I'm just tired of everyone saying things like hating Muggle-borns is like hating werewolves is like hating purists is like hating Death Eaters is like hating Pride of Portree is like hating toast when they're not all the same.

[004] Wednesday 16 February 1979. [Feb 16 2011 | 08:22am]
So I really hate to be interrupting the lively debate over some bloke I've never even heard of before airing someone's dirty laundry in public, but does anyone know what's going on with that Muggle-born Child Act? Call me selfish all you want for whinging and changing the topic, but I'm a wee bit more worried right now about a law says baby-napping is okay and even a public service as long as the babies are Muggle-born that's going to affecting a lot of families without them even knowing about it than I am about something that doesn't seem to be my personal business to know.

So I'm hoping if anybody is still coming out to Quidditch this weekend, you'll think about going to the Kestrels versus Magpies match tomorrow in Kenmare. Yeah, the last time we played them back in January, we lost 120 to 200 and they caught the Snitch, but we were doing well and good before they got those 150 extra points in one go. Not going to get into how far behind we are in the British League, but we're only 10 points behind the Prides in the Celtic League -- 1960 versus 1970 point, if you need specifics. One match each could make all the difference, especially with that mental Snitch business. Not sure yet how this curfew is going to work if the match goes into the night like they can sometimes, but I'm sure Magical Games and Sports have got something in mind.

[ WARDED TO 1978ERS, EXCL. SLYTHERINS. ]
Do you think I should be volunteering at the hospital like that Malfoy lady was talking about a few days ago? When I'm not at practices, that is, of course. Seems like something I should be doing, and children love meeting Quidditch players even if they're reserves, yeah? Might as well give them a little sunshine in their lives while they're there and do a good thing while I'm at it. And if I'm Muggle-born, it'll make the rest of us look good too, right? Or the purists will whinge about us bringing in more diseases. Can't win with them ever though.

And I wasn't going to go to that ball everyone's been talking about when I've got my own plans for Valentine's Day and who knows how long Saturday's match could be going on for, but if I'm probably a 'magical animal' by the Meliflua woman's standards if she hunts Muggles and I'm a magical spawn of two Muggles, I should make an appearance. Show how much I care about my own kind and all, especially if I'm already against that baby-napping bill.
